đź“– Bible passage for the year ahead

Hi Reader,

This weekend, I’ll be returning home after spending the holidays with my parents in Ohio and a week in Illinois.

Recently, I’ve been working with the Early Bird Reader Team as I launch my next book…

More about that next week.

As we’re now in 2026, below is a short Bible passage I hope will encourage you—whether you’re looking ahead to the rest of the year with great anticipation or hesitation.

Consider printing it out or pasting it somewhere as a reminder to be thoughtful, not worried, prayerful and thankful, and focused on what is holy.

Here it is:

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

(Philippians 4:4-8, NLT)

Wishing you a joyful, prayerful, and peaceful 2026.

Thanks for being part of my reader community.

Hi Reader, Do you find it difficult to remember God's presence and love for you during tough times, or when you're upset? Here's a brief devotion that may help, from the new book I wrote with my parents, From Sea to Shining Sea: 50 Daily Devotions from Traveling to Every State in America. Each devotion in the book relates to a state in the United States. The one below is about Kentucky... It includes a prayer point at the end: for the release of any negative feelings that may have a hold on...

Hi Reader, With so much war and unrest in the world--and perhaps even within our own hearts--I’m sharing some encouragement about peace. (And at the end of this email is a link to a free ebook giveaway with 14 Christian-related books.) The devotion below is about peace. It's from my newest book, From Sea to Shining Sea: 50 Daily Devotions from Traveling to Every State in America, written with my parents and based on their travels to all 50 states. This devotion is a reflection on visiting an...
